Sixers Hire New Social Media Manager

Andy Bowers announced on Twitter that he is joining the Philadelphia 76ers as the team’s Social Media Manager. In his new role, Bowers will help to drive the Sixers brand by spreading their values, character, and history on social media. Bowers previously served as a digital content assistant for the Atlanta Hawks.

Fanatics Hires Nike Exec as CFO

As the company looks to target sales of more than $2.5 billion this year, Fanatics has announced they are hiring former Nike Corporate Audit and Chief Risk Officer Michener Chandlee as their new Chief Financial Officer. Michener had previously been with Nike for more than a decade and will replace Lauren Cooks Levitan who is leaving the company to join wholesale marketplace Faire. In his new role, Michener will be expected to lead Fanatics’ financial organization and help the company rapidly expand their vertical, on-demand model globally.

Redskins SVP Named Regional President and Managing Director of Special Olympics

Special Olympics North America announced that Washington Redskins Senior Vice President Tony Wyllie had been named their new Regional President and Managing Director. In his new role, Wyllie will focus on advancing the committee’s mission for more than 750,000 athletes across 21 countries, as well as enhancing the Special Olympics programs in North America by size and scope. Wyllie brings almost 30 years of experience in public relations to his new position, previously guiding the Rams through their transition from L.A. to St. Louis, assisting with the relocation of the Tennessee Titans, and serving as the SVP of the Redskins for the past nine years.

NBA Social Media & Publishing Team Makes Addition to Team

It was announced on Twitter that Meagan Bordayo is joining the NBA’s social media and social publishing team. In her new role, Bordayo will report directly to Ashley Atwell, Director of Social Media for the NBA. Bordayo had previously been a communications intern with College Football Playoff since August 2018, where she was responsible for developing social strategy and leading a team of content creators.

Notre Dame Athletics Hires New Social Media Assistant

Jess Seibert announced on Twitter that she is joining the University of Notre Dame as a social media assistant for the athletics department. Seibert just graduated from the University of South Florida but brings several years of experience live-capturing social media photos and videos as a Live Social Coordinator and Content Corresponder for the NHL and NFL.

Former Reebok PR Leader Heads up Comms for Global Esports Division

As it looks to expand and include teams all over the world, Activision Blizzard announced that they have named Dan Mazei as Head of Global Communications for its esports division. His role will include oversight of popular Overwatch and Call of Duty leagues. Mazei comes over to the esports space after spending nearly four years at Reebok as a leader of global public relations, digital content, social and paid media. In his newly created role, Mazei will lead PR, influencer and celebrity marketing teams, as well as editorial content.
