Tim Armstrong joined AOL in 2009 and was named Oath’s CEO in 2017, following the telco’s acquisition of Yahoo. Armstrong was considered the brains behind Oath’s operation to challenge the Google-Facebook content and advertising duopoly and oversaw many critical deals, including the company’s $2B mobile rights streaming deal with the NFL. Oath’s current president and COO, K. Guru Gowrappan, is set to fill Armstrong’s role at the end of this month.
The digital sports content and marketing agency announced the promotion of Eric Herd to president and CEO. Herd, a co-founder who joined the company in 2008, has served as COO since 2013. David Katz, CEO since the company’s founding more than 10 years ago, will transition to the role of chairman of the board. At ThePostGame, Herd has established himself as an innovative dealmaker, helping grow audiences and revenues for many of the top brands in the sports industry.
Luis Vicente has served as an advisor to the international governing body of soccer since January. In his new role as CDO, he will work within their digital, content, tech, esports and data sectors. Vicente joined FIFA with experience as Man City’s director of partnerships, as well as Valencia’s chief revenue and marketing officer.
Dianna Kraus, senior vice president and senior partner, has been named global managing director of FleishmanHillard Sports. The agency also announced the appointments of Steve Hickok, senior vice president and partner, to lead the Americas; Chris Gratton, director, to lead Europe; and Suki Zhao, senior vice president, to lead Asia. The series of moves were made to drive the relaunch of its sports practice.
